“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” ~Philippians 4:8
I will say it again, the book “The 4:8 Principle: The Secret to a Joy-Filled Life” by Tommy Newberry is OUTSTANDING!!!
You guessed it!! Tuesdays are BIBLE STUDY days!! 🙂
This book confirms what I already know, yet have been made feel crazy about at times, AND gives me answers to my “what have I been doing wrong” questions. It’s all “how to fix myself and my outlook” stuff. The best part is that we can fix our outlooks on life just by changing OUR thinking. No need to worry about anyone else!! Just retrain US!!!
Chapter 6 (today’s chapter) started with a little story:
“A classic fable begins with a grandfather telling his grandson about the two wolves battling in his heart. ‘One is wise and kind, and the other is vicious and cruel,’ says the grandfather. ‘Which will win?’ asks the grandson. And the grandfather replies, ‘The one I feed.'” (Newberry, pg 103)
Makes sense, right?? How crazy is it that it is that simple. If we feed negativity, that’s how we’ll think. If we feed happy thoughts, we’ll feel lighter and happier.
Today’s chapter also spoke about the Law of Exchange. How wonderful is this!?! “You can do away with a negative thought only by replacing it with a positive thought.” (Newberry, pg 112)
Again, SO easy!! It is just hard, sometimes, to realize it on our own in the heat of the moment! 😉 Because in the heat of the moment we may “…seem to think that we have a right to negative thoughts. Instead of dismissing them, we embrace them. There’s no benefit to doing that.” (Newberry, pg 116)
This entire book is based on Philippians 4:8. The WHOLE thing!! So, maybe we should start by reading that. 🙂 (I have placed it at the beginning of this blog just in case.) 🙂
Happiness and a JOY-FILLED LIFE are within reach! WE just have to make the choice!!!
***McCrazy Daily Lesson: Choose Joy! Choose to be Happy!!! We are the only ones who can do it for ourselves!!!***
This is a GREAT little chart put together, from the book, by our wonderful teacher today!!! Also found on pages 110-122 of “The 4:8 Principle”. 😉
