McCrazy Family Back in Action

It has been one heck of a year!  The husband was gone for eight months, deployed with the Navy.  Three weeks after he left, I found out I was pregnant with our THIRD child…meaning I had two to take care of, alone, while I grew the third.  This did not concern me, nearly as much as everyone else, at first, but as time went by and my belly grew, I realized I was falling further and further behind. On everything.  Thankfully, I have the most amazing, and supportive, husband who did not care the house was dirty, or work needed to be done, when he got home!

We were so happy to see him and get him home!  He began on the “Daddy to do” list immediately, and we were ready for baby to come in no time!  However, in true McKay fashion, she was NOT ready.  Not only did she not come early, as we all anticipated, she had to be MADE to come out a week LATE!  UGH!  GIRL, SERIOUSLY!!!

She’s here, now, and loved, very much, by ALL! 🙂

Other things I’ve been working on…  CAKES!  I made Evie’s baby shower cake and The Middle Man turned THREE!! He requested a Spiderman cake!

I also did a bit of sewing for Evie’s room…I’ll save that for a later post.  😉

 

Things are getting back to normal around he, after a nutso year.  Daddy will be moving to shore duty later in the year.  My oldest will be starting kindergarten. 😦  And I plan to get back to work on here!!  

I have missed you all immensely!!

Jump Out!

No, not out of the boat…  😉

I was reminded of it tonight, and I thought I would re-share.

Wouldn’t it be SO easy to just sit back and do the same things, with the same people, all the time?  It would get so repetitive that we wouldn’t even have to think!  We could just get up and go, and we would not have a care!

But that’s not why we are here!

We are meant to go out; see new things; meet new people; do new things!

We never know who we might meet or help along the way…  We also never know when an unexpected stranger may help us!

So, to avoid the dull, and to grasp the opportunities life has for us…

The book The 4:8 Principle was amazing!   It seems only fitting that it be my new favorite quote.

So, so simple.  Who could be unhappy if we spend all of our time dwelling on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy!?

Not quite as simple in the real world where everything is trying to bring you down, huh?   The book has a whole section on how to guard yourself!

In the meantime, when things are going bad and nothing seems right…

Childlike Wisdom and Logic

My three-year-old has taken to wanting to “run like Daddy”, so he likes to get out of the stroller and run, now. We love this. Anything exercise is, of course, great!

Yesterday morning, we went running before church. Derek immediately took off running as fast as his little legs would take him! He is SO cute when he does this. 🙂 About 3 minutes in, he began to stop and walk. Then, he would run again. And so on and so forth… Daddy started asking him to please run or get in the stroller, since we had to get back and get ready for church. His reply was classic. When he would stop running he said it was because, “I am downloading a game”. Once the game was done downloading, he could run again… (wink wink). This went on for about five more minutes before we finally requested he download in the stroller. 🙂

How awesome is it to be THREE! No, he was not TIRED from running… He was simply downloading a game. 🙂

After church, we went to the beach. The boys LOVE THE BEACH. We played in the sand and water for about two hours, and then we headed home. On the way home, my three-year-old looks up in the sky and says, “Jesus is up there”.

Why yes, Derek, He is up there. 🙂 I love it that my child is looking for God in different places!

Isn’t it great to be a child??! Everything is so simple. Our faith is even more simple. My children don’t question God, or that God does things. They just believe.

Wouldn’t life be easier if WE did that??

I can promise, from personal experience, that life is better when He is driving! Is it all bows and ribbons? No. It is more fulfilling and less worrisome though. 😉

Run, Girl, Run: Take 2

So, I had almost given up on the run, honestly…  I was getting no where, and I didn’t really mind…lol…  Unmotivated.

Until today…

We just went for a family run.  My three-year-old now LOVES to run with Daddy, (you know, he’s in that whole “I wanna BE Daddy” phase).  So, the first part of the run he ran with Daddy.  When he got too tired to run, he got in the stroller. I ran with Daddy.  This only lasted a few seconds, (like 30 seconds to be exact…lol).  SO, Daddy said that HE would push the stroller with the boys so that I could just run.  

WOW!  I ran for, what seemed like, forever!!!!  WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

I have  renewed sense of worth!  I am NOT the “suck of life” runner!!!

June 1: How I got Into It

Well, lets see. 😉

I have always had a secret desire to write. I thought my friends with blogs were WAY awesome… I DIDN’T think that I was a good enough writer to have a blog, and I definitely didn’t think I had interesting enough things to talk about.

I told one of my friends/fellow navy wife/fellow blogger about my secret desires and about the strings pulling/holding me back. She said to do it anyway! If nothing else it’ll be good therapy…just write and get it all out! ( http://brittanylaeen.wordpress.com/)

Now, here we are; one month later! I’m enjoying every minute, and I hope you are too!!

Author to Be!!

So, blogging being my newest and greatest, I have begun writing two books!!  🙂  This is not a new idea.  I told my husband, just the other day, that I had started, oh let’s see…  three or so books in the past.  I had just never shared the idea before.  😉  I didn’t plan to share it now; I just needed a Blog topic for the day!  lol!

I am an LPN, (for those of you who don’t know).  I worked, mostly, in geriatrics.  I am good at it.  I loved them, and they loved me.  I only quit nursing because I had my boys.  I wanted to be able to raise my own babies.  We weren’t sure if it would work out, but it did.  Here we are three and a half years later.  🙂

In high school I wanted to be an interior designer.  People said that was totally awesome, and then, they proceeded to tell me how hard that would be to get into.  I decided not to try it.  I didn’t really know WHAT to do, until my second year of college…  I had been working in an assisted living facility, and I decided I would go to school to be a nurse.  I liked the people, but wanted to get paid more.  Then I got married and moved to Cali.  I ended up doing LPN school there, since nursing, of course, made TOTAL sense then.  With my husband moving all the time, I could always find a nursing job!

Back to present day…

Stemming from the creative “I want be an interior designer” side of me, I have had an extensive list of career change choices since having the kids. I wanted to be a cake decorator, a photographer, a wedding planner, and a florist.  At one point, I was going to have a business to do them all.  That’s me!  Instead of picking a focus, I want to DO IT ALL!!!!

So, as I said, I am now going to be an author.  I have three non fiction ideas, and one fiction idea.  I have started one non fiction book and I have brainstormed the fiction book.  

We will see how it goes I guess.  😉  

If anyone has any advice out there, PLEASE, feel free to comment!!!
