New Year, Dirty House?

So far, I am doing well with all my goals.  I have done more of my workout videos in the last week, than I did the whole month of December.  I, EVEN, became an official Beach Body Coach!  😉  Love, Love, Love my shakes and my get fit video!  Don’t be surprised if a THIRD blog pops up.  😉

I have been contemplating our garden.  It is not NEARLY big enough to make enough food to can, but we could at least eat well all summer.  I just need to optimize space and get it going!

I have, definitely, been reading AND blogging more.  I, finally, started “Dreams of Joy”.  I have been wanting to read it forever….LOVE Lisa See!  It is as awesome, so far, as I thought it would be. 🙂  We will, also, be starting a new book at church next Tuesday, “Bad Girls of the Bible“.  I will, definitely, update you on that book as soon as I start it!  🙂

I have been writing a lot in my other blog: Voyage Towards Up.  I missed you all, though, and I wanted to stop in and say HELLO!

The kids are doing great. 🙂  They are so smart, and I can honestly say my patience with their “not smart actions” is getting better.  Day by Day…


The problem that I have found with all the “bettering me” stuff is that it is worsening the house! I am making time for the things I want to accomplish, but now the house looks like this on a pretty constant basis!


If anyone out there has a plan to remedy this, PLEASE help!  😉

Day One

Not a bad day. 

The boys had a friend over (and me too), and that always makes for a more cheery day!  They had an absolute blast driving the new John Deer Gator around…  Silly Boys.  🙂

I started my workout: Brazil Butt Lift.  I did not complete it, but I did start, and WOW.  I am out of shape, have no balance left, AND all the jerking around??  HA!  It’s going to take me and my 21 week pregnant “butt” a minute to catch up to all this!  It will be worth it, though.  🙂

I bought a few books to read on my Kindle.  Some free; some cheap; all good.  😉  I even sat down and read a few pages of “Killing Jesus” this evening.  Still loving it!  

I got the boys a couple books to read, as well.  Bedtime story time.  😉  I found the cutest little kids devotional!  I have only sampled it, so far, but believe I will be buying it!  

Now, my blog.  🙂  I have found that I cannot do it all in a day, but…

The book The 4:8 Principle was amazing!   It seems only fitting that it be my new favorite quote.

So, so simple.  Who could be unhappy if we spend all of our time dwelling on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy!?

Not quite as simple in the real world where everything is trying to bring you down, huh?   The book has a whole section on how to guard yourself!

Great LOOOOONG Weekend; VERY Useful Lesson

I re-learned a very useful lesson this weekend, and I thought  I should share.  

Recently, I have missed “things” I would have not missed under different circumstances.  When I made the decision to “skip”, I had a logical reason why it was ok.  I had evaluated my situation and realized, myself, what was happening and promised myself I would not let it happen again.  There are no good excuses for not doing the right thing.  Sounds familiar, huh??  (The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions)

I did it again this weekend.  At first, I tried to blame someone else.  Then, I realized it is no one’s fault, except MINE, when I don’t do what I should.

I wanted to share this, because I know the other day (in above post) I probably sounded preachy.  Some think I say these things, but I don’t always follow my own “preaching”.

I wanted to use this as an example of NO ONE IS PERFECT!  (No, not even me.)  If we were, we would be God.  Jesus was, and always will be, the only perfect person.  All we can do is work toward perfection.  No, we will never reach it, but isn’t it a GREAT goal!??!  

I feel like one of the most important things we can do is to REALIZE our shortcomings.  That way we CAN work on them!!!

I do feel like I dropped the ball, and I have been upset about it all day.  She may not even realize, or care, but I feel like I did.  All that I can do is LEARN and move forward…

The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions

Thank you, Tammy, for that GREAT lesson and lesson title!

After being out of church for two weeks, it is GREAT to have been back last Sunday and today!!  I REALLY missed being there learning to be closer to God.


What a GREAT day to return to Bible Study!!  THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS!  How true is that??!  Although, I bet not many of us have looked at it that way…

Faith and Deeds–14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Seems kind of like common sense doesn’t it?!?  How many of us FAIL to do these things, though.  We wish others well, but this is meaningless if we are not doing something to help.      

If there were a naked man standing on the side of the road, and you stopped to see if he were ok, would you leave the man standing naked??  Or, would you take some clothes from your suitcase and clothe him? 

The same must be in done is ALL circumstance.  Even if they only thing we have to give in a given situation is prayer, it could be the one thing they need the most!

Romans 7:21–21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.

My Daddy always told me that there was never a viable excuse NOT to do the right thing.  Going to church for example:  I don’t feel like getting out of bed, all dressed up, and driving ALL THE WAY TO CHURCH.  Dad’s response:  That’s the devils talking.

Just because we can rationalize why it’s ok for us NOT to do the right thing, doesn’t mean that it is ok.  We must work, DAILY, to become better and better people.  When we mess, because we will mess up, we ask GOD for forgiveness.

Anytime that little voice says, “it’s ok to skip church” or “you are already out of the store…you didn’t MEAN to steal it” it’s the devil leading you in the wrong direction…little by little.  He will pick and pull whenever he gets the chance…  We must PUSH BACK!  It’s not always the EASIER path, but it will be the more rewarding path.

Though I have not actually started READING the book, based off of today discussion, it is going to be another good one.  🙂

Childlike Wisdom and Logic

My three-year-old has taken to wanting to “run like Daddy”, so he likes to get out of the stroller and run, now. We love this. Anything exercise is, of course, great!

Yesterday morning, we went running before church. Derek immediately took off running as fast as his little legs would take him! He is SO cute when he does this. 🙂 About 3 minutes in, he began to stop and walk. Then, he would run again. And so on and so forth… Daddy started asking him to please run or get in the stroller, since we had to get back and get ready for church. His reply was classic. When he would stop running he said it was because, “I am downloading a game”. Once the game was done downloading, he could run again… (wink wink). This went on for about five more minutes before we finally requested he download in the stroller. 🙂

How awesome is it to be THREE! No, he was not TIRED from running… He was simply downloading a game. 🙂


After church, we went to the beach. The boys LOVE THE BEACH. We played in the sand and water for about two hours, and then we headed home. On the way home, my three-year-old looks up in the sky and says, “Jesus is up there”.


Why yes, Derek, He is up there. 🙂 I love it that my child is looking for God in different places!

Isn’t it great to be a child??! Everything is so simple. Our faith is even more simple. My children don’t question God, or that God does things. They just believe.

Wouldn’t life be easier if WE did that??

I can promise, from personal experience, that life is better when He is driving! Is it all bows and ribbons? No. It is more fulfilling and less worrisome though. 😉

Day 3: What I Do Best

Talk.  🙂

I don’t like to clean; therefor, I’m not the greatest at it.  I don’t like to…  Wait, I don’t mind doing most things. I’ll just move back on topic…

I can talk all day.  Rarely do I get tired of talking…  I am not usually the conversation starter, but if you ask a question or begin talking about a subject, it’s all over.  I can talk and talk and talk.  Usually too much.  

Sometimes I talk when I shouldn’t; I learned a new word last night.  

Discernment: The ability to judge well.

I am actually VERY good at this in everything, except talking.  I can talk for days, but I am now learning when to just shut up!!!

I am hoping the ability to talk and talk and talk is going to help me with writing my book.
This blog has definitely given me an outlet for my talking. Now, I can talk about what I want and how I feel, and if people want to read (hear) it, they read; if they don’t want to read (hear) it, they don’t read.

So, in writing this, I have found that while I can talk for days, I might not be “good” at talking at all. I am working on it. I believe I have gotten better, so I am going to stick with it being the best. If I think of something else, I will write a “What I Do Best: Part 2”.

“Maybe we are going to buy a game at the App Store.”

This is what my THREE YEAR OLD said to me while getting in our car after church today!  WHAT??!!?!  App Store??!?

I am officially old.

Just the other day I told my husband we needed to start letting him use the computer so that he will get used to using a mo….  Wait…  We don’t HAVE a computer with a mouse.  What is this world turning into!??!  My child can make the screen on a tablet, Ipod, or phone bigger or smaller.  He can scroll to get the games that he wants.  He can get back to the home screen when he needs to.  Now, he wants to shop at the APP STORE!!!

Just when I think the world is crashing down (because my children are growing and becoming little people and this freaks me out out), everything comes back to Earth and makes my world warm and fuzzy again.  🙂

After we got home, I was discussing VBS (Vacation Bible School) with my husband.  I told him I was dressing up like a princesses!  (VBS theme is Kingdom Rock.  Knights and such.) My Darling little three year old, who had JUST made me feel 2323242 years old, looks at me and says, “But you already ARE a princess”!!  🙂  Such a sweet boy!!

Just when we think things are nuts and getting away from us, there is always something to suck us back to happiness…  We just have to LET it!!  Was the App Store conversation life altering??  No.  It just made me feel old and sad because my babies are growing TOO much TOO fast.  But the follow up with, “…you already ARE a princess” makes EVERYTHING right again!!  🙂
