Day Nineteen: Write What You Know?

What a good day to start back up!!

Why yes!  That is what I write, and believe me….I will be writing it WAY more, now!  😉

It’s easiest, for me, to write what I know.  Or, at least what I THINK I know.  😉  It, also, helps me get what I think I know straight.  For some reason, it always makes WAY more sense out than in.

Being that my husband deployed yesterday, I have a feeling you are going to be “hearing” a lot more of my thoughts on here, as I will not have anyone, at home, to share them with…lol.

I apologize ahead of time.  😉

Day Twelve: Quirky Writing Habits

I am not sure I have developed any yet??  My writing is a bit patchy at this point. 🙂  I will check back in next month, after the kids start school and I have more of a routine.  😉

If anyone has any habits they would like to share, feel free!!  Maybe your habit will become mine and set me on my way!!!  😉

***McCrazy Daily Lesson:  When in doubt, ask a friend!***

Day Six: Thinking Outside the Box

As child I always promised myself I would not get caught up in the “norms” of the world.  I was going to stay fun and creative.  I would also NEVER have that marriage I saw on TV.  You know the ones with man in his office ALL day while the wife is cleaning and cooking ALL day…  What enjoyment could one POSSIBLY get out of that?!?!?

Anywho.  I believe I am still a bit creative; especially after I get an idea going…  Then, there is no stopping me.

Take my first child’s first birthday for example.  A Luau.

Fifty-ish people.  (Granted we did share the day with a friend.)

Decorations and party gifts galore.   We even had a beach scene wall to take family pictures in front of!!

Food.  The Food.  More than an army would need.

BUT!  I had a VISION!!  It had to look the way it did in my head.  And it did!  Does Derek remember?  No!  (lol)  But we have lots of nice pictures!!

The parties have calmed down a bit over the years.  Now, I often have a hard time figuring out what to do until the last minute.  :-/

Maybe I am loosing my “thinking outside the box” ability!??!??!

When I think about writing I often have a hard time thinking of original stories.  That’s probably why most of my stuff is real life.  I LOVE FICTION.  I am just not, currently, great at the brainstorming part.  The “norms” of the world have sucked me in!!!  All the stories I like in my head are stemming from stories  I have read!  Who wants to read a spin of a story already done??!!!?  NOT ME!

(Click for another great article on thinking outside the box.)

We definitely need to be able to think outside the box.  It gives the stories more flavor.  It enables us to write something different and worth reading each time.

The good news is, I do believe, that with a little work and studying I can get my creative self back in action, and then, LOOK OUT WORLD!!!

Day Five: Judge Books by Covers?

I had a hard time picking a favorite one yesterday, because they are all so wonderful in their own ways!  I have been trying NOT to judge by the covers.  I bet there are TONS of good books with less than wonderful covers, but if it’s an eye catching cover, it’s in my basket.  ; -)

Why, you may ask??

I am not sure…  I guess it’s like a preview.  If a movie preview is boring, people are likely not to watch it.  If a book cover is “blah”, I am likely not to buy it….

***McCrazy Daily Lesson:  There are TONS of great books out there.  Perhaps we SHOULDN’T judge them by their covers.  Perhaps you don’t, and I need to learn NOT to.   😉  ***

Day Four: Favorite Book Cover

I am not sure I have a FAVORITE book cover.  I DO pick books by their covers, s lot of times.  Once I find a good series, using my method, I will finish the books regardless of the covers. 🙂

Lisa See has nice covers.  I started reading Lisa See books, because the Snowflower and the Secret Fan cover caught my attention.

The Harry Potter Books, as a whole, might be my favorites.  This would be mostly because they use the whole cover.  The picture starts on the front and continues to the end.  Kind of neat.

***McCrazy DAily Lesson:  Though we shouldn’t JUDGE a book by it’s cover, it sure doesn’t hurt to have a nice one!***

Day Two: Write for Money?

I write, because I enjoy it.

I love to write about the things rattling around in my head.

I love to get what I am thinking out of my head and on “paper” so I can see it.

*Would I like to write for money?  Absolutely.

*Is that why I am doing it? Not so much.

I write for enjoyment.  It is, truly, something I have found that I enjoy spending time doing.

***McCrazy Daily Lesson: Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. ~Confucius***

I feel very blessed to be able to stay at home with my children, and learn a new skill.  I realize this isn’t a luxury everyone has.

Thank You, God, for giving me this opportunity.

Thank you, husband, for allowing me to seize the opportunity.

Day Three: I Blog Because…

I blog because:

  • It Is enjoyable.
  • I like to get all my thoughts out on “paper”.
  • I have learned some of my most useful information in simples passings or readings.  I hope to inspire others as well.
  • I am a bit shy, so it is MUCH easier to say what I want to say HERE.  Words get all jumbled when I talk out loud.  Although, this is getting better.
  • It’s good to look back at where I was in comparison to where I am now.
  • It’s a good way for family and friends to see what we are up to.
  • Blogging gives me some “me” time in this nuthouse.  😉

***McCrazy Daily Lesson: Enjoy what you do; Do you what you enjoy!***

I am not going to quit the blogging challenge (though I have certainly failed…lol).  I will pick up on the days I can.

The upcoming week is VBS week, SO…busy again!!  😉  I should have a LITTLE more time, though.  🙂  I am in charge of elementary games, so WISH ME LUCK/PRAY!  I was terrified of the idea when I started this journey, but I WANTED to do it.  Here we are!! D-DAy!!!  I know God will help me teach these kiddos!!

I can not wait to get started and share, with you, the greatness!!!

See you, again, soon!!  🙂

Day One Bible School Verse:

Psalm 23:

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk
through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Day One Bible Point: God’s love helps us…STAND STRONG!
